Android vs iOS

In the fall of 1976, Steve jobs along with Steve Wozniak led to the foundation of a small firm named Apple. Apple was initially a computer manufacturing company and was making a fair trade but what gave apple a really distinctive identity was the introduction of portable hardware like iPhones and iPods followed by the revolutionary iPads. The entire innovation thing of Apple Inc. started with the iPhones which totally turned the smartphone family upside down. Since then Apple has never looked back. All of the portable iDevices that gave Apple a bed of roses use the apple's own operating system- iOSApple iPhones with iOS maintained a monopoly in the smartphone race for decades until 2007 when Google purchased a small project which was a powerful Linux based open source operating system to be used in handheld devices like cell phones and tablets. Google named it Android which later proved to be a great deal of success.
Android was readily accepted and hugely appreciated resulting in the extensive sale rates of Android powered cell phones. On the contrary apple iOS rather of being efficient was still beyond the common run of people.

Affordability:

Which one of the two is better is still a current theme for the geeks round the globe but each of the two is an ace in their specific reigns.Android takes multitasking to an entire new level. It may be hard to digest, but multitasking experience on android machines is far better than that of iDevices. But multitasking is not the key to the android’s popularity. The pillars to Android’s popularity, acceptance and success are ‘flexibility of customization’ and their ‘easy availability’. Android being open source can be customized to a great extent with ease. Another major factor which earned Android a huge number of followers is it’s availability at affordable prices. Android being open source is used by giant firms like Samsung, Sony Ericson and by the small set-ups like Micromax , Karbonn, i-ball which consequently expands the bandwidth of the consumers that find Android affordable. One can experience an Android powered machine in at low budget of 7k INR or one can flaunt by having an android machine worth 34K INR. This is where the market success of android lies it has a large span of customers varying from all classes of the society.

Apps:

But one would not buy an android just because it is affordable; what attracts the majority of “Fandroids” is the quantity and quality of applications Android offers. Google play offers a number of both paid and free applications for its users.  Popular apps like facebook, whatsapp Popular games like angry birds, cut the rope are all just few clicks away. There is nearly an application for everything ranging from multimedia players to offline navigation. Still not enough to your seat? Android unlike iOS allows the users to install a third party application which means that you are just not bound to Google play store. You can download applications from anywhere and can share applications. In addition to the above features android has integrated Google services like YouTube, Gmail which can be handy at times.

Android vs iOS

The extent of android’s popularity can be understood by the fact that Steve Wozniak, Apple CEO himself owns a MOTOROLA DROID RAZR which is an Android powered phone.
iOS has a full-fledged app market named iTunes which offers a number of premium and free apps. Despite of less number of developers to their account, iOS has somehow more applications as compared to the android market which gives the user a variety of handy apps to choose from.  It may be a hard pill to swallow but the .ipa apps i.e iOS apps are far better than Android apps when it comes to usability, ease of use or user interface. However, until an iDevice is jailbroken the application experience cannot be said to be complete.
Another attribute that attracts most of the non-techie consumers towards apple devices is their appearance or the looks of iDevices.

Updates:

Android provides you with frequent free updates which can be reverted back when needed. On the other hand updating an iOS version or downgrading an iOS consumes a lot of time and can be a challenging cumbersome process at times.

Android vs iOS

Hardware-software synchronization :

Apple iOS which has been the most significant portable operating system for years despite of being strongly challenged by the relatively young Android is still the most loved operating system. The key to apple iOS’s success is the hardware-software synchronization. The Google android is a generic operating system which means that the Android operating system for a particular device is never made with the context of that device’s hardware specification. Thus a cell-phone with a 600Mhz processor sports the same Android operating system that a cell phone or tablet with 1.4 GHz processor does which results in the contradicting user experiences. This is the segment where apple takes  a lead over Android. The iOS is specifically made in accordance to their hardware which gives them a cutting edge.
The two factors which make Apple devices the distinguished machines of the era are ‘extraordinary hardware’ and ‘simple light operating system’. The hardware components including display, touch play a vital role in maintaining iDevices to be most desired devices across the globe. Apart from the superficial hardware components, a layer under which exists the soul of apple devices-Their processors. Apple has always surprised the users with their extensive compatibility and lightening performances. This has been made possible only due to A4,A5 or A6 chips that the apple devices use. Apple has always came up with revolutionary changes in their major updates and as an achievement the updates have never disappointed their users. In fact the updates have always tempted the users to upgrade their software or hardware as per the need.
The secret behind the iOS being super compatible and ideally efficient is that the iOS is actually very light which means that it uses a very limited amount of memory leaving a marginal memory space for the applications to consume. On the contrary Android is a bulky operating system which consumes most of the memory space for it’s background processes leaving a minimal space for 3rd party applications which causes applications to lag or crash.
By the virtue of iOS being lite it enables the user to experience a lag-less fluid performance which still forces them to spend fortunes on it.

Conclusion:

Although Android is taking over the market at a very strong place because of it's affordability, user experience, multitasking, apps and easy customization, Apple is playing the role of being in head to head competition with it by equally strong operating system which takes up lesser memory space and has got remarkable speed and hardware-software synchronization with wide range of apps as well.
